Holidays are coming…

It feels a bit strange to already be writing my 2014 end of year blog post, but tomorrow I’m hopping on a plane to Australia and I’m not coming back until the new year has started.

Before I go (to meet editor extraordinaire Cheyenne Blue!) I wanted to give you a quick heads-up on my plans for 2015 as well as looking back briefly on a most amazing 2014 (although it’s not over just yet…)

I wrote 300.000 words in 2014, so that’s one goal reached. Actually, if I remember correctly (and I do, because I blogged about it), I only had one goal and that was to increase 2013’s word count of 165.000 words considerably, which I did. As great a source of satisfaction as having accomplished that goal is, it doesn’t come close to The One Big Thing I did that changed everything.

I wrote the book that was hardest to write. I laid it all out for the world to see, and oh, how I’ve gotten back… So many people have e-mailed me about At the Water’s Edge, telling me about how it touched them. It has garnered quite a few 5-star reviews and, yesterday, it made the #1 spot in Amazon’s Lesbian Romance Best Sellers List. For this book to make it to #1 means so much, not just because it means sales are exceeding all my expectations (and then some), but even more so because my story is being read. And, more than anything, I want for people to read my book and, perhaps (after having a good cry), find comfort in my words.

So: thank you to each and everyone who bought At the Water’s Edge. I wish I could give every single one of you a big hug.

Onwards to 2015. The plan is, of course, to write (at the very least) another 300.000 words. Most of these words will, hopefully, become novels. Writing At the Water’s Edge has been so rewarding (and made it very clear to me that you, my dearest readers, want novel-length work from me), that I want to write longer books. First on the list (after finishing Season Two of French Kissing) is expanding my novelette As Years Go By into a novel. Then… well, let’s just say I’m not short of ideas. And, who knows, maybe I’ll finally write that spy novel I’ve been banging on about for years in 2015. 😉

As far as upcoming releases go, the first new title slated for publication is my threesome cougar novelette Piano Lessons in January, followed by Season Two (in its entirety!) of French Kissing in February.

Ladylit has made quite a few leaps in 2014 also, what with snagging Cheyenne Blue to edit Forbidden Fruit, and the themed mini-anthologies doing so well. We’ll be putting out more of those, as well as another Cheyenne Blue erotica anthology, and we currently have an open call for submissions for a romance anthology called (for now, this may change): Summer Love. Do submit! We’d love to work with you!

On the private front… we’ve decided to move once again. Just this morning we signed the lease for an apartment on Lantau island (still in Hong Kong!), where we’ll find out if we are suited to island life. We move mid January 2015.

lantauNo high rises here…

That’s about it. I wish you all happy holidays. Mine will be the first spent in a t-shirt instead of a Christmas sweater. See you next year! xo
