NEW RELEASE: No Other Love (Pink Bean 6)

No Other Love (Pink Bean 6)Despite it only being September, it’s already time for my last release of 2017. I explain why in a note at the end of No Other Love, not only for your information, but mainly because, in hindsight (always the biggest teacher, is it not?) I put a lot of those reasons into this book. I set myself up for it, of course, by making one of the main characters a lesbian romance author. (Duh!) 😉 But now that the book is actually coming out, it’s also bringing a disproportionate amount of fear to the surface.

Did I cross the line and put in too much of myself? Will readers not misinterpret what I’m trying to say? And, mainly, have I not made myself too vulnerable? (And also: what’s up with that tagline?) 😉

The truth is that I did, probably, cross some lines and that I most certainly have put more of my inner world in this book than I’ve done in others—and all of that brought to life in a character that, at first glance, may not even seem that sympathetic.

But the truth is also that I needed to write this book to process all of the emotions I’ve had to deal with this past year (and I’ve had many.) However, that is also where the similarities end. Jane and I are both hyper-sensitive, introverted, lesbian romance writers, but the story is entirely fictional. And the story, in the end, is what it’s all about. So let me tell you some more about that… (At last! But perhaps you know me well enough by now to know that long-windedness is my middle name.) 😉

The story of No Other Love is the opposite of what many would like us to believe is hot in lesbian fiction (namely, tight-bodied-20-something-girl-meets-other-tight-bodied-20-something-girl.) This book is about two middle-aged women in a long-term relationship and the obstacles they sometimes face. And a bunch of Pink Bean characters, of course!

Here’s the blurb:

The story of your life is the hardest one to write

Annie McLean’s struggling book shop has been saved by joining forces with the Pink Bean. Her wife, lesbian romance author Jane Quinn, finds her quiet life and steady routine challenged by the introduction of the Pink Bean and its many colourful characters. Both her mind and body seem to be struggling with the new situation.

While Jane figures out how to navigate and adjust to the many changes affecting her, Annie has developed more than a keen interest in Pink Bean owner Kristin.

What happens when a long and enduring relationship is put to the test? Can Annie and Jane rescue their marriage and in the process find themselves, and each other, again?
